Meet Our Walkers

Meet Monika

Monika has been happiest around animals for as long as she can remember. As a kid, she’d rather be with a dog than the other kids at the park. She spent time with a local foster mom who took in traumatized rescue dogs, becoming the one who knew how to be around them without overwhelming them. She read every animal behavior book the school library had, and at eight years old tried starting her own dog walking business (two clients, her parents’ friends, but still).

It got personal when her own dog, labeled a severe behavioral case and scheduled for euthanasia, only got worse with force-free methods. Monika turned to a balanced approach, leaning heavily on positive reinforcement with the boundaries and guidance her dog needed. Today her dog lives a full, happy life by her side.

She trained under Dankroft K9 Services in Toronto, first as a client, then as an apprentice, and keeps learning through ongoing work with trainers and workshops with top trainers around the world. She has an exceptional read on dogs and their body language: she spots problems before they start, knows exactly when to step in, and builds deep trust along the way. At home, she shares her space with dogs and cats of her own.
